Meet Abby – the lovely owner of AE Creative – an event planning and design company located in Bend. I have had the pleasure of working with them on several occasions this year and can say how invaluable their service was to all brides and grooms. Here is how she describes her company:  ae creative is an event planning, renting and paper good designing business based in Bend. We offer a range of services to best fit couple’s needs. Our backgrounds are design heavy so we have a good vision and design sense when pulling all of your elements for your event together!


What is the difference between hiring you for a full planning and design vs the day of only?

The difference between full planning and day-of is quite a lot! With our full planning package you get help throughout your entire planning process, someone to bounce ideas off of, help choosing all of your vendors, help with design + style, and pulling everything together to have the best day possible!

With our day-of package, it’s much less, but still a needed service. We help with the final timeline, day-of logistics, and being on site helping with your finishing decor setup, meeting your vendors and making sure the day runs smooth and that everything you’ve already planned happens! We do also have a couple packages in between those services as well, it just depends on how much time the couple needs and how much they want help with planning their wedding.

What scope of services do you offer and what is typically not included?

Depending on the package chosen we offer a range from design and detail help, complete vendor contact and communication to full styling. We also offer vintage and unique rentals that can be added to any package or rented on their own, and custom designed paper goods! We don’t offer cleanup service or trash removal.. we leave that to the pros at The Broomsmen.

Any special planning advice you can offer?

Limit the amount of tasks that you’re asking friends or family members to pitch in. It may sound like a good idea to have your mom bake all of your cupcakes or your bridesmaids to arrange your centerpieces, but this adds a lot of extra time and stress to everyone involved. These tasks take away from the needed time to get themselves ready or added stress about having it be perfect. Save these jobs for the professionals, when you pay a pro for a service you can ensure it will be done and done right, and your wedding party can enjoy the day with you instead of running around helping setup.

Also, relax and enjoy the day. A lot of hard work and planning has gone into this one day so enjoy it! Some things are just out of your control and there is no sense in worrying or stressing about it. At the end of the day you’ll be married, your family and friends were present to support you and hopefully you cut a rug on the dance floor!

What should we look for when choosing a wedding planner?

When choosing a wedding planner it’s important that you do some research and find someone that best compliments your style and vision. You’ll be working with this person for a few months so it’s important that your communication style matches up and you fully trust their opinions. If you would’t feel comfortable out with this person for a drink or grabbing a cup of coffee together, then chances are you wouldn’t want them at your wedding! Make sure you connect!
